Toronto Crime Stoppers, Taxis All The Way
December 13, 2004

Toronto Crime Stoppers have been involved in numerous programs that bring criminals to justice. Today, Toronto Crime Stoppers are supporting a program that will prevent drivers, youth and seniors from becoming a traffic collision statistic. During this festive season, the R.I.D.E. campaign supported by Crime Stoppers, will contribute to eliminating the number one cause of criminal death in Canada, impaired driving.

Tonight members of Toronto Crime Stoppers will demonstrate an innovative new program; TaxiMiles are taxi cheques that are only redeemable for cab fare, thereby ensuring the intended purpose, and giving the purchaser peace of mind. Crime Stoppers wants everyone to have a Safe Way Home™.

Toronto Crime Stoppers are having their annual Christmas dinner tonight and are setting an example by using TaxiMiles to go to and from their destination. Taxi-cabs are being used in an effort to demonstrate responsible festive season behaviour. Please use alternative transportation when drinking and eliminate driving as your way home.

TaxiMiles and Crime Stoppers want you to have a Safe Way Home™.

For more information about this innovative program please call Ted Holtzheuser (416) 239-0070. Mr. Lorne Simon, Chair of Toronto Crime Stoppers can be contacted by calling (416) 808-7253.
