(TORONTO – October 19, 2004) –TaxiMiles today announced its endorsement of the following organizations, ViaStat Traffic Care (www.via-tc.com) and, Institute for Traffic Care (www.itctraffic.com) (www.irsa-nl.org), and the World Road Safety Network (www.wrsn.net) the Netherlands .
We are please to support these world leaders in technology and road safety expertise. Canada has a role to play in increasing the road safety for all Canadians, through the intelligent platforms provided by ViaStat’s collision software provided an integrated solution, as part of the other road safety initiatives provided through the auspices of the WRSN and its partners.
The members of the network have committed themselves to invest their energy, knowledge and influence to improve road safety throughout the world especially in developing countries. By working together in partnership members will increase political and public awareness across the world. The network will support and encourage the delivery of the enforcement led road safety programs . Current members include: ITC - the Netherlands, IRTE - India, RosPA UK, Road Safe UK, Centrex BRAMSHILL UK, TRL -UK, Intrafpol, Spain.
Our partner Road Safety Network ( www.roadsafetynetwork.com), recently held a symposium in Toronto “ Collision reduction through research, technology, and innovation, RSN Canada is an representative organization of road safety experts from around the world, developing road and traffic safety strategies, policies and programs to reduce the incidence of collisions, thereby reducing death and injury due to road crashes representing ViaStat and Institute for Traffic care.
With nearly 1.2 million fatalities and over 35 million injured in road accidents each year, road safety is an issue of immense proportions. Over 80% of these casualties occur in developing countries and countries in transition, although they account for only 32% of motor vehicles.
The World Health Organization presented a road safety report on 14 th April 2004 to the United Nations in NY. The general assembly adopted a road safety resolution with an appeal to all world leaders to prioritize road safety and to help developing countries.
UN emphasized the importance of: improvements in traffic enforcement; improvements of post-accident procedures; a uniform collision data collection format; the need for accurate data and statistics; user friendly and accessible good practice data base; improvements on driver training and testing
Impaired driving continues to be the leading criminal cause of death in Canada and TaxiMiles is the first program that will actually provide drinkers incentive not to drive.
