FOUR YOUNG people were killed in separate car crashes just hours apart yesterday. Two teens were killed and another seriously injured in Niagara Falls when their Chevrolet Cavalier went out of control and rolled over on Stanley Ave., around 2:30 a.m.
Alyssa Kish, 16, and Norm Fisher, 18, were pronounced dead at the scene and the third passenger -- a 16-year-old girl whose name has not been released -- was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital.
The car's driver Benjamin Ross, 18 -- Kish's boyfriend and Fisher's best friend -- was treated for minor injuries and is charged with criminal negligence causing death.
"Benjamin is in shock. He's talking about suicide," said Ross's mom Jackie Kearner. "Norm was his best friend in the world and Alyssa was the love of his life."
Niagara Regional police said speed was a factor.
About four hours later at 6:30 a.m., two Mississauga men were killed when their car ran off the road, struck a guardrail and rolled into the ditch on the QEW at Fruitland Rd. in Hamilton.
Driver Wayne Sargeant, 20, and Jevon Leach, 19, were pronounced dead at the scene. The second passenger, Jamaal Thelwell, 19, also of Mississauga, was treated in hospital and released.
Burlington OPP are still investigating the crash. |
