TaxiMiles, In Kind Canada And Phoenix Community Works Foundation Announce Innovative Charitable Partnership
National program offers “Safe Way Home”™ across Canada

(TORONTO -- MAY 31, 2004) -- As part of its leadership commitment to Social Responsibility, TaxiMiles Inc. today announced the launch of partnerships with two of Canada’s leading community-based charitable organizations -- In Kind Canada and Phoenix Community Works Foundation (PCWF).

The partnerships consist of two innovative programs. The first, the TaxiMiles “Miles with a Mission” Charitable Project, will provide charitable donations from program sponsors for the purchase of TaxiMiles cheques (redeemable only as taxi fares with leading cab companies in cities and towns across Canada). The cheques will be distributed by In Kind Canada and PCWF, as necessity dictates, to help out in eventualities for example such as health–related emergencies, hospital or doctor appointments; by children and youth who might otherwise travel unaccompanied.

The second program provides an exciting new fund-raising opportunity. In Kind Canada and PCWF will distribute TaxiMiles cheques for fund-raising activities for their charities across Canada. “We’re excited to be part of this important community–based initiative”, said John Page, Executive Director of In Kind Canada. “TaxiMiles not only provides our charities with a valuable, high-demand fund-raising opportunity, but it also offers the means for people to get around securely and safely.”

TaxiMiles is the first Canadian company to introduce taxi cheques which are available in a $5 denomination. The Safe Way Home™ Program makes TaxiMiles cheques the perfect gift for Seniors, allowing someone else to do the driving for them without their losing their independence, and for parents’ peace of mind, knowing their kids will get home safely. TaxiMiles cheques can also become the ‘designated-driver’ of choice for anyone going out for the evening and who may drink.

“We’re delighted to see such a creative community program,” said Larry Rooney, Executive Director of PCWF. “Especially one that looks after individuals and contributes to establishing healthy communities where people in need can find a ‘Safe Way Home’™.”

TaxiMiles has also attracted major supporters such as Crimestoppers, the Canadian Taxi Association, leading cab companies in cities and towns across the country and the P.A.R.T.Y. program (Prevent Alcohol & Risk–related Trauma in Youth), developed by Sunnybrook & Women’s College Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

“Charities will find it very easy to sell TaxiMiles cheques in their communities,” said Michael Roncon, President & CEO of TaxiMiles Inc. ”In our experience, people immediately understand the value and benefits of our program, both personally as it affects them and their families, and also as it benefits society at large. Purchasing TaxiMiles to support a charity fundraiser just makes the buying decision that much easier.”

TaxiMiles, (www.taximiles.com), based in Toronto, provides Canadian communities with TaxiMiles cheques for purchase online or by phone. It is TaxiMiles’ and its partners’ undertaking to provide a ‘Safe Way Home’™ for everyone.
