THE SUMMER trauma season is upon us as the Victoria Day weekend prepares to rev up. Yesterday, Toronto Police, OPP, and Sunnybrook hospital trauma officials teamed up to get the word on the streets to "Stay Cool" and avoid aggressive behaviour on the roads and in our communities.

Dr. Fred Brenneman, chief director of the trauma program, said the toughest thing to tell a parent or loved one "is their 19-year-old has died on the operating table."

Insp. Wally McCourt, of Toronto traffic services, advises Torontonians to "stay cool, be calm, be courteous when behind the wheel" and arrive safely at your destinations this upcoming long weekend.

And OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley said his officers will be out in full force, keeping a careful eye on young people this weekend whether they are on the highways or waterways.
